Pilgrimage to Holy Land

Day 1st: Friday 28th of July
Tel Aviv – Lod –jafo- Jerusalem (outside the walls):
We commence our journey at Israel’s Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport, meeting at 08:00 to 10:00, as it expected that by then all flights will have arrived; after the mandatory Passport and Security checks we proceed to the baggage claim area. Then in the arrivals Hall area the assembled pilgrims from across the world will form into a single group. We then as a group board a pre-arranged coach and travel from Ben Gurion Airport to the city of Lod (historical Lydda) and venerate the Tomb, the relic and the Church of Saint George the Great Martyr. We then depart and head for the town of ancient Jaffa, and here we visit the Monastery of Holy Apostles. We will then visit the ancient town and marketplace of Jaffa. Time will be made available for pilgrims to walk the cobblestone streets and take in the breathtaking views of the Israeli landscape. It provides the avid photographer an inspiring environment. Our next stop is West Jerusalem (Outside the Walls); our first stop is the Monastery of Saint Simeon, whose tomb lies within the monastery, and then on to the Monastery of the Holy Cross; this Monastery is built on the location where Lot planted the tree which would grow and eventually become the timber on of the Holy Cross on which our Lord Jesus was crucified.
We will then make our way to our hotel, allowing pilgrims to settle into their rooms, rest, bathe, relax and take dinner.

Day 2nd: Saturday 29th of July

Mount of Olives - Gesthemane- Jerousalem ( in the old town)

After breakfast we depart once again for Jerusalem
and firstly ascend the Mount of Olives . There is Small Galilee, the location of the first appearance of Christ after His resurrection, the place of His Ascension and then the Garden of Gethsemane, housing the Empty Tomb of the Most Holy Theotokos, the place of the Christ’s anguished prayer to the Lord and the site of Saint Stephens Martyrdom. We then on foot enter the walls of the old city of Jerusalem, and we come upon the home of Joachim and Anna, the parents of the Theotokos, and the place of her birth, the Pool of Bethesda, where Christ healed the paralytic, walk along the Via Dolorosa in the footsteps of our Lord and the saints, visit the Pretorian prison where Jesus was imprisoned before His Crucifixion, and lastly the Church of Holy Sepulchre, Christ’s Tomb and the place in which the Holy Cross was raised; we then return once again to our hotel to relax, bathe and take our  dinner.

DAY 3: Sunday 30rd of July
Northern Israel, Galilee, Tiberias / Sea of the Apostoles. Day three finds us head to Northern Israel, we first stop at Nazareth, in the region of Galilee at the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, after to the village Kana of Galilee when took place His first recorded miracle, when the water transformed to wine. We then move to Mount Tabor where the Metamorphosis of Christ . We then drive down to the city of Tiberias, we walk  to the old port that Holy Apostles did, and have a lunch enjoying the fresh Peter's fish from the Sea of Galilee. We then sale on the Sea of Galilee as did Christ and the Apostles and then walk  among the ruins of the UNESCO site of the Ancient city of Capernaum known as the region in which many of Christs miracles occurred and where witnessed including the sermon on the mount and the feeding of the 5,000. We then visit the Monastery of Saints Peter and Paul to the North ob Sea of Genisaret.  After we will follow a different road from Eastern of Genisaret passing from the place of Bethsaida, Gergesinus, and after a long journey follow the Jordan river borders to the South, throught the Jordan desert will return to our Hotel for  to rest, bathe, share dinner and relax.

DAY 4: Monday 31st of July
Bethany, Judea desert Holy Monastery of Saint George, Cave of the Prophet Elias, Jordan river (real spot of the baptism of the Lord) Mountain of  Temptations, Jericho town Monastery of Prophet Ellisama, Sykomor, Monastery of Saint Gerasimos. Day four will be a very hot journey, and pilgrims should prepare as appropriate. We begin by visiting Bethany, and the Monastery of Lazarus, Martha, and Maria, and from there we proceed to the Monastery of Saint George of Chozeva, containing the Cave of the Prophet Elias and the relics of St. John the Romanian, in the desert of Jordan before our journey takes us to the Jordan river on the Jordanian-Israeli border and to the actual place of Christ’s Baptism by St. John. At the Jordan River, a prayer service and blessing will be undertaken, and then pilgrims who so wish and are ready to do so may immerse themselves in the Jordan River. We will then stop at the Monastery of Saint Gerasimos of the Jordan before continuing our journey to the Mount of Temptation, the land in which Christ stayed for 40 days whilst being tempted by satan to forsake His mission. We then head to the town of Jericho where we find the Monastery of The Prophet Elissaios, the sycamore tree, and the home of Zacchaeus. We then Journey back to our hotel for rest, bathing, and sharing an evening dinner.

DAY 5: Tuesday 1st of August
Mount Zion, old town historical Orthodox monasteries.     Today we head to Central Israel / Samaria, to Jacob’s Well and the place where took place the dialogue found in the New Testament between Christ and the Samaritan woman.  It is also the location where on November 29th 1979, Archimandrite Filoumenos the Cypriot was murdered.  Afterwards we drive to Jerusalem, to Mount Zion, where we visit the place said to be where Jesus broke bread and shared His Body and Blood with His Disciples before His crucifixion, the place of the Descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and the location of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, as also the reputed Tomb of David.  We will then visit the Monasteries of the Virgin Mary where in lies the tomb of Saint Melanie, the small monastery with the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary Saidanaya from Syria, and some other small monasteries in Jerusalem. Now there will be time to eat and drink something in the Old Town, and also time for everyone who wants to explore the old city and do shopping before returning to a predetermined meeting place for return to our hotel.

DAY 6: Wednesday 2nd of August
Shepherds Field Cave of Shepherds, Bethlehem Nativity Cave, Mar Sabba Monastery, Saint Theodosios Monastery. After breakfast we head firstly to the Shepherds field, located just opposite our hotel, and visit to the Monastery of the Shepherds, the Cave were the Shepherds heard the Angels’ heavenly hymn. We then make our way to the Holy city of Bethlehem and visit the Basilica of the Nativity, where is the Cave where Virgin Mary gave birth to our Lord Jesus. Then we make our way into the Judean desert, where we journey some distance to the Monastery of Saint Savas the Sanctified and then we continue onto the Monastery of Saint Theodosios the Great, where we will also find the Cave of the Three Magi. Then to the Old Town of Jerusalem again, where the pilgrims will have some time to explore the old city before returning to a predetermined meeting place for return to our hotel. Today we will return early evening to our hotel to share dinner and prepare for departure the following morning for the last day pilgrimage and transfer to the Ben Gurion Airport.

DAY 7: Thursday 3rd of August
Wosrhip to some old town Monasteries and free time in the old town of Jerusalem.
There will be two  buses to Ben Gurion Airport (no extra charge).
1.Noon about 11:00 - 12:00,
2. Afternoon about 15:00 - 16:00
Any extra transfer from our hotel to Ben Gurion Airport costs 125-140 USD$ or euro€
(taxi for 3 - 4 persons)
After breakfast we head to the Old City of Jerusalem where once again pilgrims will have free time to continue discovering the Holy City and shop for some souvenirs. Pilgrims will have time to explore the old city before returning to a predetermined meeting place for transfer to the Airport.
Today for everyone is the last day of this Holy Pilgrimage, so there will be two transfers from our Hotel (or from the Old City of Jerusalem) to Ben Gurion airport. The first around 11:30-12:00  and the second in afternoon around 15:00 - 16:00, which should cover most of the pilgims’ needs for transfer to the airport. We should note here that, as the security checks are extensive, we are required to arrive three hours before departure at Ben Gurion Airport at Tel Aviv, and a good deal of patience is needed, as the process is long and can appear at times intrusive.
